As you can see, the people of this world only want to be happy. They dont care about anything else, such as politics or the economy. They only want to be happy. At the beginning of the book, Montag appears happy. He is seen burning a house and is thoroughly enjoying himself. At one point, he thinks, It was a pleasure to burn (19). A short(p) l ater, he thinks he would feel the fiery smile still gripped by his face muscles, in the dark (19). In February 2007, the fourth annual conference of Zero Tolerance Against Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting was held. Their meeting brought together scholars and lay throng alike, all whose main concern was the issue of Female Genital Cutting (FGC). However, this conference was unlike others in that the focus of discussion wasnt how to eliminate this practice, save rather, whether it should be eliminated at all (Goldberg 121). Just because we are a developed, first-world nation with the ability to perform the procedure in state of the art hospitals, does not make it any less traumatizing.
